More cards

Since we are having a tough northeastern winter, I thought I'd post some art to forestall the further collapse of society! Just kidding - it is not that bad, but here are some nice distractions in any case.

Postcards

Here are a few recent postcards I painted. The first is a street scene from Budapest.  The next is Melk Abbey in Austria.

Finally, a chicken I saw in Iceland last summer.

Cards for friends

My teacher Ann Lindsay said a good thing about being an artist is you always have an excuse to buy yourself flowers. Here I've painted a quick study of roses in ink and wash.
Next up is a postcard showing the salt tower on the River Iln in Passau, Germany.

Baby quilt

Today I gave away my first baby quilt of the year.  Here's a picture.
All told, I've made around 30 baby quilts.  Recently one of my quilts was featured in LACMA's.  Click the link to learn more.

Central Europe gifts

Today I sketched souvenirs that I brought back from Europe and will give away as gifts. The first is a rattle with bells that I bought for my niece at the Budapest Christmas market. I also drew a bookmark with Gustav Klimt's Austrian Secession poster. The last page shows three Slovakian ornaments from Bratislava.

Bratislava

Since it was snowing and very cold, I had a plate of Slovakian potato, cheese and bacon at Cafe Roland and painted the main square.

Also, a church outside Bratislava.

I drew this during a tour of ship's wheelhouse.

Sketches from the Danube

Happy New Year's Eve!  This week I flew to Budapest and have cruises from there to Bratislava, Vienna, Melk and now Linz.  Here is a record of my travels so far.
View of Buda from my stateroom - we had snow!

Magyar king from Heroes' Square

Next are various treasures from the Applied Arts museum, third oldest in the world.
